  • Dr. Mapy Chávez Askins earned her Ph.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University (New York) in Applied Behavior Analysis and the Education of Students on the Autism Spectrum.
  • Director of Alcanzando Inc., a nonprofit organization that works with children with autism and their families in Spanish-speaking countries.

 

Dr. Chávez Askins is the first Internationally Certified Behavior Analyst in Peru (IBA and BCBA-D). Additionally, she is certified as a Research Scientist by the CABAS® Board and as a Qualified Behavior Analyst by QABA®.

She has spent the last 30 years studying, working, and conducting research in the field of autism, primarily focusing on the use of applied behavior analysis in the education of children with autism and other developmental challenges. Her research studies include the development of vocal language, acquisition of communication and language skills, instruction in social skills, the development of perspective-taking skills, the quality of instruction by teachers and other health professionals, as well as the implementation of parent-mediated early intervention programs. The results of her research studies have been published in numerous scientific journals and presented at conferences around the world, including the Annual Convention of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), the Annual International Autism Convention, the Congress of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR), and the Mexican Congress of Behavior Analysis.

Ms. Chávez holds a master’s degree in Early Intervention from the University of Almería in Almería, Spain. She is a Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst certified by the BACB and an International Certified Behavior Analyst certified by IBAO. She has over 23 years of experience working with a large number of young children and adolescents on the autism spectrum, as well as with neurotypical children. Her extensive experience spans a wide variety of settings, including early intervention centers, private homes, and schools around the world. Ms. Chávez has conducted training courses for parents, professionals, and teachers on applied behavior analysis and the education of children on the autism spectrum. She has also served as a consultant in the creation and evaluation of programs and intervention plans. The results of her work have been presented at the Annual Convention of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), the Annual International Autism Convention, and the Congress of the International Society for Autism Research (INSAR).

Mr. Askins provides solutions that systematically describe and resolve business issues using analytical tools, mathematical models, and business methodology within the context of business law and regulations, thereby creating comprehensive strategy. Mr. Askins has acted in the capacity of Guardian ad Litem, a 3 term member of the Citizen Foster Care Review Board of Collier County and most recently as an Attorney ad Litem in the Dependency Court of Collier County. He is currently licensed to practice law in New Jersey, Maine, the District of Columbia and Florida.
